What is Notting Hill?

If you ask people this question, chances are you will get a different answer each time. For some (ie estate agents), Notting Hill is a very specific area of west London, situated around the Portobello Road area. For others (ie locals), it is an area made up of several different neighbourhoods (North Kensington, Kensal New Town, Notting Hill, Notting Dale, Notting Hill Gate, Westbourne Grove, Westbourne Park and even Holland Park and Kensington). Some prefer to go by Royal Mail postcodes, with Notting Hill being W10, and North Kensington being W10. This definition is not very reliable due to the complex way that boundaries are laid out. For the purposes of this blog, we will go with the broader definition.
